â™± ABOUT ME â™±
an introduction to your next artist,
Ellen Hayes
@e.hayes.art

Hey there, I'm Ellen.
An emerging artist in the wide world of tattoos, I'm passionate not just about the craft of tattooing, but the people who so kindly wear it. Based in Fremantle W.A. I have been with my studio for 3 years, within which I've spent two years tattooing. I'm consistently drawn to high contrast, heavily detailed & textured pieces that combine romantic themes, traditional motifs and the fine balance of masculine & feminine energy - with particular emphasis on large scale projects, though I welcome all interest in my work.
HOW I GOT HERE
It's no secret that I didn't 'always' see myself becoming a tattoo artist.
Being raised anti-tattoo largely ruled my current profession out as a version of reality (though it was surely on my radar) and as a bit of a book worm I tried my hand at other pursuits first. However, two things remained regardless of what I was doing: my love of people & passion for creativity. So following a rather pointy fork in my road, the opportunity to apply as an apprentice at Elysian Tattoo Co presented itself to me and seemed far too poignant to ignore.

Pushing self doubt aside, I felt the fear and did it anyway, so nearly 3 years later I can confidently say that it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Tattooing marries those two passions in a way that is unparalleled, and I'm more obsessed with it than ever.

WHERE I'M GOING
Always moving forwards.
I've never been one to have a 'five year plan' or road-map for life, though I am tenacious once dedicated to a pursuit.
And this career continues to mirror my deepest passions, virtues & vices in the excellence & dedication it requires.
Having had a few years to find my feet within the industry, I find myself authentically drawn to a slow approach with connection at its centre. It is my greatest privilege to understand you & your story as a client, and would love to pursue more large scale projects that help physically represent that understanding.
Additionally, I continue to feel my style growing towards that with a 'classic' feel; marrying modern techniques with both renaissance & traditional motifs. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - but I'd argue few can disagree with the timelessness of romance.
